Step 2: Initial Configuration of Media Component

Before you can add the Media Component to the Cluster Manager, you need to configure the Media Component's OAMP interface address and port(s) to suit your network IP addressing scheme. Configuration is done through its Web-based management interface, connected using the default OAMP interface address (see table below).

Default OAMP Interface of Media Component

Parameter

Settings

Name

"O+M+C"

Application Type

OAMP + Media + Control

IP Address

MC: 192.168.0.2

Note: The IP address is assigned to the device's Ethernet ports GE 1 and GE 2 (two top-left ports). By default, these ports belong to Ethernet Group "GROUP 1".

Prefix Length

24 (i.e., 255.255.255.0)

Default Gateway

192.168.0.1

Ethernet Device

vlan 1 (untagged)

If you are using a direct connectivity method between the SBC device and Media Component, the Media Component's OAMP interface must be in the same subnet as the SBC device's OAMP interface. For example, if the device's OAMP interface is 10.3.91.112 / 16 (i.e., 255.255.0.0), you must configure the Media Component's OAMP interface in subnet 10.3.x.x (e.g., 10.3.91.137).
Media Components send syslog and debug recording messages from their OAMP interfaces to the same servers as configured for the SBC device.
All OAMP IP addresses in the deployment (SBC device and Media Components) must be unique.
Time and NTP settings should be configured only on the SBC and not on the Media Components. The local time of the Media Component is synchronized according to the SBC’s local time upon initial handshake. Once synchronized, the time used for all Media Component events (such as alarms) is automatically obtained from the local time of the SBC.
Once you have configured the Media Component, you can later change its OAMP address as described in Changing OAMP Address of Media Components.
